The Boys Are back - Season 2

The Boys: Season 2 brings all your favourite anti-hero’s back and introduces a few more.

Season 1 was a fresh take on the power that superheroes could wield and what it would do to their ego. Season 2 takes it up a notch.

The second season of THE BOYS will premiere with the first three episodes on Friday, September 4, and new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9 available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video worldwide.

The even more intense, more insane Season 2 finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

While you may be a little disappointed you can’t binge in one sitting, I think this is a smart strategy by Amazon as productions around the globe have dried up and this fall we can expect a dramatic decrease in content to watch until 2021. So soak it up and enjoy it…I know I did.

Netflix Delivers The First Summer Blockbuster: Project Power

When the movie theatres are closed and the Hollywood studios are essentially on pause, we are left with a slim selection of new movies to chose from. Gone are the summers centred around the release of the “blockbuster”. This is where Netflix enters the picture with Project Power.

I forgot just how much I needed a fun, action packed movie with big production and big star power. I think I have been just crushing too many documentaries lately to notice just how serious im taking my content consumption….until tonight!

With the lights off and the surround system on blast I got to enjoy 1hr and 45min of action supported by Jamie Fox, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback as we saw character after charter swallow a pill and transform into a superhero/supervillain for 5min.

POWER_Unit_07697R.jpg

On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

Remember…this is just a fun movie and sometimes that’s all we need in these times. So go ahead and put your phone away, turn off the lights and enjoy.

(Un)Well on Netflix

(Un)Well is a six-part docuseries that investigates controversial wellness fads. Each episode dives deep into trends and treatments that catch on like wildfire but that inspire both passionate support and deep skepticism.

Topics include apitherapy, essential oils, breast milk, extreme fasting, ayahuasca, and tantric sex. The series will explore all sides of the topic –from what hurts to what works.

To save you a little time, so you don’t have to google “apitherapy”, its defined as is a branch of alternative medicine that uses honey bee products, including honey, pollen, propolis, royal jelly and bee venom. In the case of this documentary they really focus on bee sting therapy.

Yeah that’s right. There is a group of people who believe in purposely stringing themselves for heath benefits!

This series is very fascinating and well balanced exploring a world of alternative medicine very few of us are even aware of while also considering input from the traditional medical and scientific community.

Interesting and eye opening, this is a fun one to add to your watchlist.

Available to stream now on Netflix.
